NOVA Summer Youth Employment Program

Information for Businesses/worksites interested in the NOVA Summer Youth Program.

The NOVA Youth Employment Program is currently recruiting businesses as worksites for the 2010 Summer Youth Employment Program. Local businesses that are committed to helping teens learn valuable job skills should consider serving as a worksite and gain extra help for the summer at no cost to the business or youth.

NOVA is supporting local youth, age 15–24, who are interested in gaining work experience. NOVA staff provide participating youth with workshops and training aimed at career development, job skills, and life planning. A NOVA staff person also serves as an on-call resource to the worksite staff.

“We benefit from the work the youth provide us, and in turn the youth benefit from us in learning what it’s like to work in a library,” said Soraya Mofty, who has supervised a number of NOVA youth at the Sunnyvale Library.

Businesses participate by providing one or more youth with part-time or full-time work for six to eight weeks this summer between June 14th and August 13th. Wages are paid by NOVA. For more information or to participate, contact the NOVA Youth Employment Program.
