Supply Chain Transformation

In 2007, the California Space Authority asked NOVA to to join their “smart supplier” initiative. The overall purpose of this initiative was to characterize foundational “smart supplier” competitiveness skills for organizations. NOVA’s role was to learn more about the challenges and opportunities occurring with the transformation of supply chain management and to share that information with the local workforce investment community. As a result, NOVA has just released a white paper to introduce local workforce investment boards and others to supply chain concepts and the challenges facing suppliers.

Although the paper has a focus on aerospace and defense industries, we felt that overall supply chain management is an important business practice to understand in order to help businesses be more productive. It may also be helpful for job seekers to understand so that they can articulate how they would help businesses’ competitive advantage.

NOVA also developed a resource guide targeted to the needs of suppliers, including resources for workforce development, education and training, quality assurance, and other tools to enhance supply chain management effectiveness.
